The mission of the Little Wonders Montessori House of Children, Inc. is to use the teaching practices that are set forth in the Association of Montessori International guideline to develop children who are capable, confident, self-disciplined and able to work cooperatively for the benefit of society.
As the child’s interest grows from one level of difficulty to the next, the child can grow individually. They have children that are aged between three and six years working together which permits younger children to observe older children and act as role models.
The young children’s skill for learning is based upon the use of the Montessori materials, which are identified as the “absorbent mind” by Dr. Montessori. She frequently refers to young minds as sponges in her books. This is a particularly evident process in the way that a two-year-old learns their natural language with no conscious thought. Obtaining information this way is an activity which is delightful and natural for a young child and one which invites investigation and interest in the world. Children learn to read, write, and calculate in the same way that they learn to walk and talk. The teaching tools in a Montessori classroom invite the children to do this at their own pace. This approach is hands-on and assists the child to concentrate and focus on the task, whilst at the same time enjoying the learning process.
Little Wonders Montessori House of Children, Inc. belongs to the MSAC and the NAMTA. All instructors are certified by the AMI and the State of California.
