St. Francis High School is a Catholic, college-preparatory school for young men in grades 9-12. Since its founding by the Capuchin Franciscan Friars in 1946, it has been committed to enriching the mind and heart, strengthening respect through service and humility, creating a family environment, and envisioning men of hope and peace. It offers a challenging curriculum and many opportunities for extracurricular involvement. St. Francis is fully accredited by WASC and the WCEA.
The curriculum is based on admission requirements to the University of California. Students must complete four years of Religion, English, and Social Studies, three years of Mathematics, two years of Foreign Language and Science, and one year of Physical Education. Thirteen Advanced Placement courses are available, as well as a number of Honors courses. Technology is taught within the curriculum and the school has two computer labs. Grade-level, personal, and college counseling are provided.
The school offers nine sports and participates in the Mission League. It provides excellent opportunities in Fine Arts, Music, and co-curricular programs e.g. Academic Decathlon and Mock Trial. The Campus Ministry program offers retreats, liturgies, community service, and opportunities for leadership. An annual pilgrimage to Assisi is offered. Through Student Activities, additional leadership training is provided, in addition to a healthy mix of student-interest clubs and social activities.
A diverse student body includes 23% Hispanics; 12% Multi-Racial; and 11 % Asian. Class size in all academic departments ranges from 26-29 students. The staff/student ratio is 1:12.6
