The Montessori of Walnut is an infant care/ pre-school/ kindergarten located in Walnut California. The teaching style, which is based on the teaching style developed in the early 1900,’s by Doctor Maria Montessori. Her first experience with teaching young children was in a psychiatric unit with children whom the rest of the world had labeled unruly. She soon discovered that the kids were simply bored and acting out accordingly, she developed a teaching style that was later revamped for children without handicap or mental disorder.
This is a teaching style that encourages children to take charge of the learning process. The teacher presents the ideas and then guides the children through, each child learning at his or her own pace. This does not mean that the classroom is chaotic, quite the opposite in fact. The classrooms are tightly controlled, highly prepared, and neatly kept. Along with their lessons, children are taught practical skills like hand washing, blowing their nose, and cleaning up after themselves.
This school is dedicated to the enrichment of your children and their educational experience. They have a strict policy of no corporal punishment and instead choose to be proactive in preventing behavioral problems. For instance if the children are fidgety or running around staff members will take them outside for some fresh air and exercise. Should a behavioral problem arise, the school works closely with parents to address the issue. If a behavioral problem cannot be reversed then the parent will be asked to remove the child from school. The safety of your child as well as other students is their first priority.
