Since opening in 1952, Shriners Hospitals for Children – Los Angeles has provided orthopedic, burn reconstruction treatment and cleft lip and palate care for over 40,000 children all at no of charge. The 60 bed facility serves patients in Southern California, Arizona, Southern Nevada and New Mexico.

The Los Angeles Shriners Hospital accepts and treats children with routine and complex orthopedic problems, utilizing the latest treatments and technologies. Neither payment nor insurance of any kind is accepted, nor does the hospital accept government grants, state or other agency funding. Financial support is derived from the Shriners themselves plus the donations of individuals and organizations that care.

The hospital is staffed by 280 full and part-time healthcare professionals including a compliment of 43 physicians and 80 pediatric nurse specialists. The hospital is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations the nation’s oldest and most respected hospital accreditation agency.

At SHC-LA, specialists in the field of pediatric orthopedic and burn reconstruction treat the whole child, not only their physical ailments. All staff members are committed to providing quality, family centered health care for our patients and their families. The hospital offers on-site physical and occupational therapists to assist the young patient in achieving and maintaining their maximum functional level. Child life and recreational therapists prepare the patient and their families for surgery with pre-operative learning sessions and medical play. Our staff also provides activities and outings into the community to enhance patients’ social interaction skills.
